I haven't noticed any excessive wear on the grips with either tubes or dividers and since I'll replace them at the beginning of the season anyway it's not a concern. In either case, I'm not 100% convinced that's true. I either read or was told this is just cosmetic and not anything that will affect the performance of the shaft but I can't remember if that source was an authority on the subject or not.
Also, I know for a fact the plastic tubes will definitely cause abrasion on graphite shafts where the top edge of the tube rubs up against the shaft. Most of the time it's fine, sometimes they jam up, usually when inserting the club back into the bag but it just takes a bit of a shake to loosen things down at the bottom. First of all, even full-length dividers won't always prevent jams at the bottom.

Here's a couple of points I'll make based on personal experience since I used the plastic tubes for many years and have since switched to a bag with full length nylon dividers. They were produced more recently so you're more likely to find these models in better condition than some of the older Hogan blades, like the 1 Plus / Plus 1 or Apex / Apex II which are also much less forgiving. The Apex Plus and Pro's have forged heads and are pretty forgiving.
I'm guessing (1) was ladies flex and (5) was x-stiff. I've never seen a (1) or (5) but I've heard they were produced. The Apex name comes from the shaft which are typically labeled (2), (3), (4) - I think 2 is senior flex, 3 is regular flex, and 4 is stiff flex. These are all different models, and look very different from one another so it's important to know which ones you are looking at and buying. Then there are variations of the Apex name such as Apex II, Apex PC, Apex BH Grind, Apex Plus and Apex Pro.
